Why is the compensatory fee introduced ?

The compensatory fee has been introduced on 31 January 2017 in the Roads Act with the amendments of the Road Traffic Act, which will enter into force from the beginning of 2019, The compensatory fee is intended to act as mechanism for exemption from administrative criminal liability for infringements connected with the use of the paid road network.

The possibility for voluntary payment of the compensatory fee, on one hand, aims to increase the collection of the fees for the use of the paid road network and, on the other hand – the compensatory fee allows the infringer to pay higher charge with delay and in this way to be exempt from imposing sanctions and the measures related therewith.
